A great American classic! From April 23 through May 16 I’ll be playing Charles Webb, editor and publisher of the Grover’s Corners Sentinel (and father of the heroine) in Thornton Wilder’s Pulitzer Prize winning Our Town at the Raven Theater in Healdsburg. We probably all remember this play from high school, but I think it’s well worth another look as adults! One of its singular “honors,” back in 1947, was to be banned by the Soviet Union for “glorifying family life”!
Farce! From May 28 through June 13 I’ll be playing the dual roles of Stephen and Barney in Michael Frayn’s farce Chinamen at Silver Moon Theatre in Sonoma. It’s a two-person show with five characters and involves lots of doors, running in and out, and quick costume changes. In fact, Frayn is supposed to have had the inspiration for his hysterical show Noises Off after standing backstage at Chinamen one night and observing all the frenetic activity. It should be a hoot!
